The soon-to-be-reopened Whittier Courthouse will handle family law matters, and these people are excited

On Friday, 65-plus Los Angeles Superior Court judges and other court and county officials, sheriff’s deputies and Whittier city leaders crowded into a courtroom in the 46-year-old courthouse at 7339 Painter Ave. to celebrate the planned reopening for May 21.

“Ever since its closure, I’ve met with (officials from the) county, Superior Court and colleagues in the state Legislature about the value of access to justice and to try to push the needle to increase court funding,” Assemblyman Ian Calderon, D-Whittier, said to those gathered for the “rededication”
